Took these while touring the city of Ariel in the West bank. It was a beautiful day and Ariel is a beautiful place. The day was centered on whether Ariel should be considered a city, or a settlement. While I’m not sure the semantics of it matter too much to me personally, if asked I would be inclined to refer to it as a city. Over the course of this day and the rest of the weekend I heard the anecdotes of journalists, ex-ambassadors, workers, and residents of the area on the issues surrounding the west bank and the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. While I’m not sure where I stand, I do have better grasp of the complexities of the situation, and that I can definitely bring home with me.

I thought this list would be bigger. My list of what I’m going to miss from Israel is going to be much larger…
Bringing in the new year with the best of company. Sunrise, cuddling, 6 AM toast, laughter, silence and watching the clouds float by. From the worst week of my life to a little island of happiness. Gotta find joy in the details. Happy New Years everyone. שנה טובה
